Meeting between representatives of the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine (NAAU) and Cooperative Biological Engagement Program of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency of the United States of America took place in the premises of NAAU.

On February 04, 2016 a meeting between representatives of the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine (NAAU) and Cooperative Biological Engagement Program of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency of the United States of America took place in the premises of NAAU.

The following important items were discussed during the meeting:

-          Recognition of accreditation, provided by NAAU on European and International levels. Particularly, the benefits, received by those conformity assessment bodies accredited by NAAU as a result of National Agency’s recognition in the number of fields in European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

-          NAAU status as an establishment, independent of any external influence, including political impact. The necessity to upkeep such a status in order to preserve the principles of independency and impartiality that are basics for provision testing laboratories assessments according to the requirements of applicable international documents. Objective laboratory assessment is of crucial importance in the field of the Cooperative Biological Engagement Program, namely the ability to detect, diagnose and report disease cases and outbreaks and to assess related security concerns.

-          Further strengthening of cooperation between the Program and NAAU as it is one of the key elements of Ukrainian quality infrastructure system.

-          Process of testing laboratories accreditation against requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 15189 standards.

-          Interaction between NAAU and other elements of the system of technical regulation of Ukraine during accreditation of testing laboratories.

It was agreed during the meeting to continue cooperation between Cooperative Biological Engagement Program and NAAU.
