Working meeting with UNIDO representatives

March 20, 2018, a working meeting with the representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Mr. Nigel Croft and Mrs. Dominika Dor at NAAU premises was held in the framework of their visit to Ukraine with the aim to set up a technical support project in the field of woodworking industry.

The proposed UNIDO project is aimed at eliminating barriers and providing favorable conditions for the trade in timber processing, which in particular concerns small and medium-sized enterprises of the woodworking industry.

It is planned that the project will cover three main components:

- strengthening quality infrastructure management in Ukraine;

- cooperation with small and medium enterprises of Ukraine;

- promoting the development and enhancement of the quality culture in Ukraine

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine, the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research and Training Center for Standardization, Certification and Quality”, national metrology institutes, as well as enterprises and organizations of the woodworking industry are planned to be involved in the UNIDO project.

In the context of discussing the areas of technical support in the sphere of woodworking industry, NAAU made suggestions and recommendations on the support of the UNIDO project.

During the meeting, arrangements were made for further cooperation with NAAU within the framework of the Project in order to overcome the barriers to trade for products of the woodworking industry.
