Meeting with CUTIS project representatives

On October 24, 2016 at the premises of NAAU a working meeting between NAAU management and representatives of «Canada-Ukraine Trade and Investment Support Project» took place. CUTIS – is a 5 year development assistance project funded by Global Affairs Canada and executed by Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) in partnership with Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce (CUCC). The project began its activity in February 2016 and will continue till February 2021. The main beneficiary of the project is the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. Goal of the Project is to increase exports from Ukraine to Canada and attracting Canadian investments to Ukraine within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and Ukraine.

One of the aspects of the project is to strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian testing laboratories throughout testing products priority areas, training staff and providing them with recommendations to improve testing procedures to the standards level of Canada.

The following items were discussed during the meeting:

- NAAU recognition at European and international levels;

- Mutual recognition of standards of Canada and Ukraine;

- Comparison of accreditation procedures in Canada and Ukraine;

- Discussion of the implementation of the Agreement between Canada and Ukraine in terms of accreditation.

During the meeting the sides agreed to further cooperate within the Project with NAAU in order to overcome non-tariff barriers to trade between Canada and Ukraine.
