First meeting of the working group on issues of accreditation of clinical diagnostic laboratories and laboratories for quality control of medicines.

Chaired by the Chairman of NAAU Mr. Chekalin, the first meeting of working group on issues of accreditation of clinical diagnostic laboratories and laboratories for quality control of medicines has been conducted on the 21st July at NAAU premises.

Representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, national academies, NGOs and other interested institutions were invited to participate in the working group.

The main issue was to discuss the relevance and feasibility of implementing the instrument of accreditation in medical laboratories with the objective to confirm their competence to carry out corresponding work and, consequently, create confidence in their activities.

Most of the participants voiced in favor for the need of accreditation of medical laboratories and expressed concerned by the lack of state standards needed for accreditation and the need for an appropriate time for the preparation of laboratories, as well as accreditation personnel.

Until the next meeting of the working group, which is scheduled for early September this year, members agreed to present their proposals to the plan of accreditation of these laboratories, their views on using international industry standards and DSTU, as well as proposals to promote the accreditation to relevant laboratories.

Interested parties who have the desire and expertise to join the discussion on this matter may contact NAAU.
